THE HOUSE

PorchThis is the latest construction project and you can stay up to date with progress at any of the forthcoming shows where it is being built as a demonstration model.
It is an unusual mix of styles for the purpose of demonstrating techniques and products.  

The house is topped off with the familiar fired-clay roof tiles and lead flashing to finish.

Internally there are wooden doors and frames with concrete lintels above the doors, a beautifully crafted wooden spiral-staircase and polished wooden flooring for the upstairs, with each floorboard individually nailed.

 

 

 

The essential ashtray The kitchen and patio have a marbled floor and there is even a pet tortoise munching on a lettuce leaf, and a miniature ashtray for the builder.  
Anyone who knows Peter Turvey (Grandad from Grandad's Toys) will appreciate the significance of this. 		 The family pet

   

Side detail of the tile claddingThe upstairs is an intricate wood framework supporting the tile cladding. This was a very popular 19th century concept which has experienced a recent resurgence of popularity in some places.  It allows very decorative, lightweight,  modular construction which is exceptionally weatherproof.
